  1. What the hell is going on lately, It hasn't even been a week since I got my custom built tower and it seems to be already slowing down, yes I installed a lot of programs and have been ripping DVD's but still, this is a 2.4GHZ P4, 80 GIG Hardrive, taking up like 15GIG;s, 512MBDDRAM, everything top of the line....I had been reading some posts and people said something about using Norton Ghost and reinstalling the OS...any ideas on that..?

Well first remove windows and install ANYTHING else. But the best thing to do would be to sell it and get a mac.

Seriously though, are you sure it is slowing down? Have to run anything you can benchmark? The computer may not be slowing down, you may just be getting use to its speed.

Something may be occupying your CPU thus making the whole comp sluggish. Install a motheboard monitor utility like MBM5 and check the CPU usage. If it remains high then you need to check for program(s) in your systray that are running constantly...spywares could do this too. Check with a utility like Xcleaner and uninstall these softwares that keep your CPU busy.

    Hope this helps.

  4. I have Windows Xp Professional BTW, and I decided to hit CTRl+ALT+DEL

and what you know some stupid application was running in the background and taking up 100% of Cpu Usage, unbelievable, as soon as I closed it everything went back to the fast speed it was before, thank you all for the very helpful and quick responses.

Now I guess it was a spyware, and I need a utility that is free and something besides Ad-Aware cuz they haven't had an upgrade like in a trillion years. I will try to get Xcleaner if it's free. Any other suggestions, please mention them..

Glad you found the problem quickly. I believe basic version of Xcleaner is free. Try google search.

  6. Ad-Aware came out with a new version, and I downloaded it, and what do you know, 34 Objects detected, PC is working fast as before, everything seems to be gr8. I was looking at reviews for XCleaner at downloads.com and they don't seem to be good. But thanks for the help and the replies people...
