    Hello all

I'm so glad to be using a Phillips DVD 751, I just upgraded mine from the version 7.12 to the last version 7.22 and works fine.

The reason of this post is to ask you a simple question, It's posible to play PAL VCD's and watch on NTSC T.V?

This question is because I bought some VCD's from online site, but they sent me those VCD's in PAL format, so the only I saw is vertical lines passing and B&W image, also I tried to put the DVD on PAL mode based on the Manual, but that supposed to used a PAL T.V.

Thank you in advance for any information.

    Regards;

    Antonio J. Pena

At the back of my Pioneer 535,I set it to NTSC instead of auto. Then I can force the pal vcd to NTSC and record again using tapes to send to relatives using NTSC TV.
    HOpe this can help you.

    Hello my friend

Thank you for your response, I see that you are lucky to have that option on your Pioneer, This DVD has an option to switch between PAL/NTSC also but when you switch to PAL that suppose to use also a PAL T.V.

    Thanks again.

I would try re-encoding the vcd's and burn them to a new cd.
Vcd Cutter will convert the dat files to mp3 for sound and m1v for video. Then you can re-encode the video with TMPGENC using the vcd ntsc setting. Then multiplex your new video stream back with the audio stream, with TMPGENC Then burn a new vcd with nero burning rom.
Of course this won't be much help if you don't have a cd writer.

    Hi Mike

Thank you for your comments, I already did that to one VCD just to try, I extract the video segment using VcdGear, which permits to convert from .dat to .mpg, and the using TmpGenc I converted to VCD NTSC and works.

Initialy my main idea was buy the Back to Future VCD colletion for the price, but now I have double work to do.

    Thank you for your help

  6. Did you try playing the Pal VCD without changing any settings? Many DVD players made in the last year or so can play either. The settings for choosing are for the type of TV your using not the disk! It took me a while to figure this out. I had a disk i knew was Pal so I changed the settings and all I got was a Black and white pulsing picture. It took a while to get it back to the right setting since i couldn' see the settings very well. It then played fine I can't tell the difference in disk type on my player. A GE 1101p single disk version of Apex 703 (A?) /GE 5803 plays anything ! Encluding miniDVD with an available patch!

    Hi schwinn

Maybe I need to buy an Apex, because this Phillips doesn't come with any of those features. I'm so glad with your information because that answered me all my questions.
