    BJ_M,

Is Optibase much better than CCE? I have never heard of them and it is never mentioned in any guides.

BJ, I'd love to know how they perform. I'm assuming the encoding is all hardware based? What type of speed do you get out of it?

jnk76, no worries. It's a forum. It's all about opinions. I just wanted to clarify that this had come up before, and most of it turned out to be hearsay regarding the output quality.

better than CCE ? its subjective -- the quality is flawless though ..

speed is real time (including multi VBR) , cant go faster than the tape feeding them you see (SDI input) ..

BJ_M, can you clarify? What do you mean by multi-vbr in realtime?

As far as the comment on CCE being used in the "professional industry," I'd like to say I work in the pro industry, and I don't know anybody that uses that thing. Maybe lower-end "pros". We mainly use Mac-based studios with lots of proprietary crap installed. We've got some Canopus setups too, using proprietary software and Premiere with MainConcept. One Matrox Mac with DVD Studio and some other hardware cards. These systems probably cost more than your car. They do mine, and I'm not driving a POS either. We also use DVD-R Authoring and DLT tapes for duplication. Most others are the same, with various flavors in brands and setups, but no CCE as far as I've ever seen. The Panasonic setups ARE very nice. Saw one in action a while back.

Don't ask me questions too in-depth about some of that stuff. I don't work with all of it. My job is more media-related than the video engineers.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
