Hi,
I have this strange problem.
This is what I did and what happend.
I took the DVD movie the princess blade wich is a DVD 5.
So I don't have to convert it because it already fits on one dvd.
So I ripped it with DVD dycrypter and made the iso file then burnt it.
When I checked the movie it had some freezes in it hardly noticable but they where there. Then there where also blocks or image shifting like you see when a satalite transmition is blocked for a few seconds.
(not blocks like with fast motion and svcd)
I then cleaned my pc with a ghost image and tried it again and now the problem was gone. So I tried to do another movie Jason x wich had to be converted and used dvd2one but again the same problem raised it's ugly head.
I'm puzzled what can cause this problem. It can't be the encoding becasue with the princess blade there was none only the ripping part.
Also it's not a burning problem because the Jason X encoded finished files on my HD already have the problem.
I tried it again with the already ripped files wich I ripped with dycrypter and now the freezes are somewhere else in the movie and also are the blocks????
To sume things up:
It's not the burner or burning process.
It's not the videocard I have changed that one.
It's not windvd.
It can't be the dvd2one because the princess blade wasn't encoded.
Then it must be a problem with DVD decrypter you would think but the second time it worked out right with the princess blade.
And the ripped files on my HD are good because I have checked them on another pc.
Is it the dvd-rom reader, I think not becasue I used the same dvd player and my sony dvdr and the files are good on my HD.
This is so confusing I don't know where to look for the problem so I realy could use some help![]()
Is it WIN XP pro no it isn't I hae the smae probs with a clean WIN XP home edition aaaarggggh what is causing this problem.
I have a AMD Athlon 908 MHz
Mem is 768 MB RAM
1 Maxtor 20GB HD (fat32) with my system on it.
1 IBM 100GB for dvd stuff (NTFS).
Sony dru 500 ax dvd burner.
A-open dvd-rom
OS is Win XP Pro
I hope somebody can help out here.
Pleaze help me out with al least the next two questions.
What can corrupt the picture if you encode.
Another big question doe dvd decrypter encode even if it onlt ripps to the HD to a ISO format?
Thanks,
Ray

Sounds like the media. Is this media you've had good luck with in the past?

Try using a different ripping utility. Try SmartRipper and see if the problem goes away.
If it does, then it looks like DVD-Decryptor or your DVD-Rom...Use what works for you... -
Hi,
It's not the dvd-rom or the dvd movie I have checked with more then one.
And I have to dvd drives one dvd rom and one dvd-r
I know the files on my dvd are correct. I have done a movie that wasn't protected and made a direct copy not a rip of it to my HD and after encoding it had the problem.
The media is not the problem either.
I have lend asome stuff from a friend of my and now I can do a hardware test incl a different Motherb and proccesor. I will built in my HD and dvd-rom and C what will happen?
Any sugestions welcome,

Unless someone else has a clue whats causing it, it might be backup and format time.

Didn't help but I have used the Mothrboard and proccessor ao a friend and now the problem is gone. So I still don't know what is the problemmaker but I do know what isn't and the list of what it can be is geting shorter and shorter.
Thanks for your input,

I get the same problem!
I'm using Monarch media (came with my Toshiba SDr5002) some of the movies I, erm, 'backed up when I 1st got my burner played fine on my Philips standalone, however, anything and everything I have burn't recently the player refuses to play! i've taken my batch of 'coasters' to a mate's house, and 'some' of them play with the stop start effect or blockiness described earlier! I've reflashed my firmware on my burner and got myself a copy of VOB instant CD but haven't had chance to burn any more 'backups' yet so i'll see what happens! So far, i've blamed the problem on the media!

Definately the Midea. I experienced same thing (though less extreem) on some of the Memorex disks I used. Since I switched to Fujifilm, I've not had any problems. It's also interesting to know that playing a burned disk on multiple players will have different results. For instance the disk that caused minnor blockiness on my samsung DVD player, would crash on a friends Sony DVD player when it got to that blockiness sceen. But that same disk would play fine on my DVD-ROM (Toshiba) drive.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........
