  1. I hav some full concerts that are in the ASF format and when i try to convert it to mpeg it will make a file too big. So i cut it in songs. One song per file. But when its done, when i watch it, its without sound. So i went to Virtualdub to separate audio from video in ASF, but it says that the file is too big. So i make mpegs but without sound....what can i do???

  2. You might wanna download some ASF repair tools in the tools section of this site. The asf could be corrupted. Or, if you have the space, save it as an uncompressed avi, maybe that will help because i don't really trust TMpgEnc with asfs. Otherwise, you might be hopeless.

I dont think this ASF is corrupted, i watched it many times...it works fine...
I separate audio from video like we do w/ mov files w/ the Total Recorder and it works...is it the best way?

If i remember right newer virtual duub wouldn't work with asf files because of a microsoft stop order.....So i have always used Vitual Duub 1.3 (before the stop) Using virtual duub open asf file click on audio and video as "direct steam copy" then save as avi. (this make clip a avi the same size as the asf was.....but often the sound still screws up) SO i always (still in Virt Duub) click on Audio...full processing ...then set compression to none or pcm...then save as wav file. In TMPG use the avi for the video in...and the uncompressed wav (large) for the audio input....this fixes 95% of mine.

In that case then Bravoxena, may be right.......just because U can play the asf doesn't mean that another program can read it....there may be a glitch in the files (asf's bite in my opinion.....but they save bandwidth...so webmasters will always use em)......anyhow.....download one of the ASF fix tools in tools section here and run it on your clip ....then see if Virt Duub can open...
