  1. Hi. Got a bit of a problem.
I have a WinTv PCI FM. When i'm just watching TV on it the quality is fine, but when I go to capture the quality is really lame. I've tried capturing uncompressed and with the huffy codec, both give me no frame drops, just really bad quality.
I bought the card primarily to capture, so I don't want to have wasted my money.
    Can anyone help please?
O yeah, i'm using windows 2000, and I tried capturing with both virtual dub, AVI_IO, and the crappy program that comes with the card.

    Thanks for any help.

  2. Your card is ok but you need the latest Hauppage VFW driver for w2k (w2kdrv311.exe) and an utility called HWCLEAR wich let you remove all the settings from the previous driver. There are also WDM drivers but you'll get in trouble with virtualdub or other vfw capture programs.
You can download also other useful software from their site.
Pay attention, i had a problem with this new driver on a clean w2k installation because there is something wrong with the .inf file and you have to choose manually the right driver.

  3. Hmm..didnt seem to work. Could you guide me on how to install the driver as I think I may have done it wrong.

    Thanks

  4. Ok. I tried using the picvideo codec. The quality is MUCH better, I think it would be better using the Huffy codec (if it worked) as the sorce is not fantastic (cable, but also tried with normal ariel). The huffy codec is set to best quality by default (i think) and I can't adjust it. Maybe it says the qulit is best but its not, as I cant adjust it.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  5. Well I use the same type of card and use the raw uncompressed AVI and perfect results, Just very huge AVI files, about 300MB per minute.
Also get the newest Indeo Codec's and try using either Indeo 5.11, Indeo Raw 1.2 or Indeo 4.5 and see how it works.
I use virtualdub with no frame drops at 352x240 at 29.97 frames and 22050 16 bit stereo audio.
