I posted my critique of this player on the DVD Player Ranking section. One of the complaints I had was that it would not play any of the X formats, XVCD or XSVCD, without choppy sound. I have since played around with the bit rate settings and have found that when using standard rate of 2520 for the video in TMPGenc one needs to drop the audio sample rate down to 192 kbps. After burning an XVCD with that it works beautifully. Doing that I can get the higher resolution 720 x 480 plus the use of menus. If using either of the Mpeg2 formats, SVCD or XSVCD, one gets no menus. This pretty much solves my problem for home made Video CDs and the player does a fantastic job of playing all disks I have thrown at it with those exceptions. The MP3 long name and folder capability is terrific too. Best of all is the progressive scan output if you have a progressive capable TV. I still recommend this player and I got mine at Circuit City for $150 because they are closing it out.
