Basically if I try to copy a disk in Nero it ejects the blank media claiming that there is not enough space on this media and insert a bigger sized media. This is when I'm trying to backup a backup 4.3 gig disk with under 4 gig of information on the damn thing.

Does anybody else have this problem, or better still a SOLUTION?

Anybody know of any other decent tried and tested DVD writing software?

Thanks in advance guys (and girls)

  2. I bet you're trying to do an "on the fly" copy from a reader to the writer, yes ?

Try using the writer to read the disc copying the contents onto the hard disk instead of doing an on the fly. For some reason, the data seems to "grow" if you do an on the fly copy, but using the writer to both read the... original (?) and write the copy does the trick for me.

Thanks for your reply Garry but NOPE! I aint trying on the fly, I have tried reading it in on one drive and writing with the other and even reading it and writing with the same drive still the same problem.
I'm having to Rip with Smartripper, and then create a Video dvd through Nero which means having to swap programmes and switch discs e.t.c Instead of just putting Source in one drive and Destination in the other.

    Thanks again anyway mate.

    TO BE CONTINUED..................

  4. Doesn't make much sense to me, I'm never able to do an on the fly copy, so I rip with dvddecrptr and write with InstantCD+DVD. Make sure its in UDF not CDFS.

  7. I do on-the-fly copying..it's a no brainer. Takes 15 mins for 4.36GB dvd. Make sure both dvd-rom and dvd-burner are on separate ide channels and dma is enabled on both and it should be no problem.

A lot of people swear by NERO, but from my experience, I swear AT it. I have not had your problem, but have had several other ones. I made many coasters with NERO in that it would burn a DVD that would not play on my SONY DVD. My solution to the problem.... I now use RECORDNOW MAX to do my burning and have not had a single problem. You can try out a 30 day trial version of it at www.stompinc.com .. Hope that helps you out.
