I am using dvd2one and IC7 for movies up to 6.5GB with great success. I may even go larger to dodge having to split a movie.

However, the Sopranos has 4 episodes on each disk therefore approx 4 hours. About 8gb, to much for one disk. Is there an easy way to get 2 episodes onto each of 2 disks. Neither of the above programs will allow me to just select 2 episodes. I have looked at ifoedit, and then put it away again .

There must be an easy way?? Could ripped (dvddecryter) vob files be put into an authoring package and burnt with home made menus??

    What do other people do??

P.S I do want to keep the 5.1 audio (just the one channel, no subtitles)

  2. Just run the VOBs through DVD2AVI and take those to TMPGE. Source clip out each episode to MPEG-2 and burn with the software of your choice. TMPGE stage will take a long time, but that is my best suggestion.

Nah. I used DVDDecryptor and ripped each ep. Just re-authour 2 eps/DVDR. It's not worth re-encdoing unless you are so broke as to save a few bucks on blank media.

    This is what I do...

use "dvd decrypter" to copy or rip the dvd as an "ISO" to the hard drive.

use "ISO BUSTER" to "extract the "video_ts" directory from the "ISO"

use dvd2one (latest version) to convert the files in the "video_ts" directory to an "appropriate" size so that it can be burnt

use "nero" or "record now" to burnt

(total time should take no more than two hours for all of these steps)

Thank you all for your input.

Gazorgan, do you rip each episode separately? What do you use to re-author? Do you have to re-encode? Does the authoring package accept the vobs from dvddecrypter? Do you use the IFO’s .

Dbaker6165, are you producing a single DVD with 4 episodes? Or 2 disks?

yes... I produced a single dvd of band of brothers disc one which has two episodes on it! Follow my directions! or try variations of my directions (meaning make up your own way, I did).

I did the sopranos using the older version DVD2one and put the whole disk on one dvdr. I didn't notice any quality issues with it.

  10. I have backed-up all the sopranos sets, and I notice minimal loss with season 2&3 when using IC7. Season 1 is very pixelated, but probably from using a low-quality camera/encoder when putting it on dvd and having alot of noise.
