One more question about my drive....
It can be hooked up to USB or firewire....both of those on my computer were available (1394 firewire or usb2.0) so I just hooked it up to the USB 2.0 port in the front purely for convienience....
Does it matter in speed or performance where you plug it into?
Is firewire faster than USB 2 or vise versa?? or does it not really matter?
Can I change them around if I suddenly need a certain port or is it best to keep things where they were first hooked up into?
thanx![]()

Hi there Erica,
It's your old friend Romanov here. USB 2.0 is theoretically working at 480Mb/s and Firewire at 400Mb/s, so it looks like USB 2.0 is faster. However, I read on many webboards that hooking the external drive up to the Firewire port is better, since Firewire can keep up better with the throughput. Anyway, you can just unplug the USB cable and plug in the firewire cable (reboot might be necessary). I've got mine on Firewire and am very happy with it. -
Hey Erica,
I just got mine last week and plugged it into my USB 2.0 port and made 2 coasters off the bat...
Then I plugged it into the FIREWIRE port and have not made a coaster since....
I like firewire much better...
