  1. I have been encoding episodes of a tv show from avi to mpg in order to burn them to VCD, needless to say with a 450 mhz computer that is no small task, the encoding time is usually 3 hours or so, but, when i try to encode these 2 certain episodes the encoding time says it will take 10 hours not 3, the video is the same legnth as others i have done in the same program (TMPGEnc) & about the same file size prior to encoding & the projected file size is also the same as every other video i've encoded, but the estimated time says 4 hours first but then goes up steadily untill it says 10 hours, i have also tried to do this same video on a friends computer which is 2.5 ghz & even on his computer it says 4 hours when they usually only take 45 minutes or so, what could the problem be?

Are you using filters as filters can GREATLY increase encoding time???

There's probably some bad frames in the video that cause the problem. I would suggest you to scan the video for bad frames using Virtualdub and that save a new copy of the avi. This should solve tha problem.
