I have an .mpg file that whose video does not play under WMP, but the audio plays fine. How do you check what the underlying video codec is?

.mpg files don't use codecs, but you could use avicodec to check out if it's an mpg1 or 2

thanks. From looking at the size and length of audio, the file seems to be an mp3 misnamed as an mpg.
