  1. I've tried everything I know how to do (or read on this site). I'm trying to convert .avi files to the VCD format (.mpg). Here is what I have tried:

    a) TMPGEnc - I get the following error: "file can not open or unsupported". This is the only error I get.

    b) avi2vcd - I get the following error: "file contains compressed audio...which is unsupported".

    c) Virtualdub gives a similar error code.

    Can anyone help?

it may have ac3 sound. try using gspot. it tells you what codecs the file uses.

Does the file actually play on your PC. Are all the codecs for your file installed?

  4. The file does not play on my computer. I tried to find out which codec the file uses with gspot. However, the file doesn't work with gspot. In fact, it crashes the program. Other files work fine with gspot. However, the couple I have that do not work will crash. Any other suggestions?

  5. To extract the audio to WAV from avi, use NanDub.

Use FourCC to make the file compatable (DivX)

If you still getting errors, check out my post "serious help..." - I might have a similar problem.
    Thx in Advance!!
