I'm using DVD Decryptor, Daemon Tools, and Instant Copy. This is the first time I'm seeing this problem and I've copied quite a few movies already.

In IC, at around the 93% completion mark, I get an error message which asks if I would like to send it to Microsoft, then IC shuts down. This happens at the exact same spot - the movie credits have finished scrolling and the director appears and challenges you as to whether or not you were paying attention to the movie then a quiz comes up regarding the word "barber". Needless to say, this is the point where IC dies.

In the "Customize Disc" section, I selected the 1st Video Track which is 1hr42secs long, AC3 5.1 for audio, no subtitles and the file came in at 4.34GB (IC sizes it at 97.24%).

    A couple of questions:
    1. what's causing this and is there a way to fix it?
    2. is it possible to edit out this "quiz" thing? If so, with what?

    Thanks for your help!

  3. I had the same problem with (dont laff) Chitty Chitty Bang Bang using IC to backup the movie. Got a multicopy.exe error when the credits were rolling on the encoding stage.

I tried everything I could think of to no avail, I have backed up many movies with IC but it just didt like this one. I used DVD95COPY in the end and it worked beautifuly. Very quick too with hardly any picture loss.

    Regards

    Steve

Mack, thanks for the info, but filesize is not my problem. The problem I'm having is that for some strange reason, IC will transcode one of the extras on the DVD even though I selected only the movie (Title 1). It tries to transcode VTS_02_0.VOB even though this is in a Video Track Title I did not request. The last part of the movie is VTS_01_5.VOB which ends with the scrolling credits and the MGM lion, then IC will report it's "Reading Video Data 2 of 5" which is where the trouble starts and the whole process crashes - always at the same exact spot.

I'd like to fix the VTS_02_0.IFO file (if this is the culprit) so that it won't direct IC to transcode it's corresponding .VOB file but I can't make heads or tails of IFOEDIT.

If anyone has had a similar problem and can provide any assistance, I would greatly appreciate it.

the answer is there, but you mustn't have found it

it's the link beside NOTE: instantCopy undersizing issue & others explained where it had 5 links at the bottom

I suggest you fully read these two links below when you have the time
as it's the 'phantom' MB you are suffering from by the sounds of things

    http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/ICinfo.htm
    http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/temp/sims.htm

read those 2, especially page 3 on the simpsons one http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/temp/sims3.htm

and also watch out if you insist on removing titles with IC for problems during playback also explained in the links

    hope it helps

Mack, thanks for your help. I reread those pages and it now makes sense. The only problem is figuring out how to use Ifoedit. But that's another story! Thanks again!

I've tried to make it as simple as possible, though you do need some basic knowledge of what to do

Mack, thanks a million for your help! I used Ifoedit to strip out all of the menu extras and it now works! I'm a newbie at this, but I definitely intend to learn everything there is to this stuff.

    Thanks again!

    I'm pleased you were successful

it get's easier the more you do it, and if your capable you will soon be able to find it a breeze like I do and basically strip every last bit of the DVD you don't want

Have you got DVD95Copy cos I use this for my menu/extras and use IC for main movie resulting in 10%+ extra for main movie setting

Mack, don't have DVD95Copy - what's the advantage of using this over IC?

(I like using IC as it allows me to fit a movie with menus/extras as long as I don't have to reduce it by more than 10%.)
