Adding 5.1 audio 2 Photo DVD

I use Ulead DVD PictureShow 2 to create the photoDVD with music (mp3) for my niece. After completing everything and burnt to a DVD, the dvd plays fine but I cannot get the audio thru my receiver using an optical cable. Bascially, the audio for that is only stereo 2 channel. how can make that audio into surround audio, or 5.1, AC3 DTS, etc. (As long as not stereo 2 channel).
