  1. I have two Xvid files and intend to convert it VCD, but before that I need to join them together.

So my question is should I join before or after the conversion? Speaking of quality, does it really makes a different?

Joining and cutting is easier with Avi's than mpegs (usually) and faster too. Virtualdub is simple, load in part 1 then select append avi to load the second, set both audio and video to direct stream copy, save avi. As long as both parts have the same characteristics (res., codecs, fps etc.) then it's easy. 8)

The bitrate doesn't have any effect on whether they can join or not. If the resolutions are different, you can't join them together.
