  1. I'm using 1.0f still (never got around to 1.0g). I saw that 2.0e is out, but I also read at least one report of Accu media (they are technically rated at 1X, but can be burned at 2X) was no longer working.

I'd rather burn 1x media at 2x then pay for 4x media.

Can anyone post their experiences w/ Accu media on 2.0e?

I am using accu media and did udate the firmware to 2.0e. I guess this was a mistake because like you said it is now burning at 1x. I was starting to get pissed not knowing what hapened until I read your post. Can anyone tell me if I could safely go back to 1.0f, or whatever the best recommended firmware is?

  4. JoyRide - just re-flash your drive with firmware 1.0f to go back.

www.sonydru500a.com to get all the firmware.

I was at 2.0e and my 4X is not writing at the speed anymore so I re-flash it back to 1.0f.

Just an advice.....if it's working don't mess with it!!!!!

  5. Well one of the previous updates is what got me 2X at the Accu media --- I was hoping to see other performance improvements -- but I'm not going to upgrade until the next release comes out that supports Accu @ 2X...

    Thanks for the advice/info!

  6. I upgraded from 1.0g to 2.0e and Accu dvd-r would no longer burn at 2x, rather only 1x. I flashed back to 1.0g and all is well. I'll stick with 1.0g

    donpedro!!
You are a very smart and sharp man indeed. I guess most people upgrade the firmware everytime a new one comes out. Why? If they have problems, then it might be a good idea. But if the drive is working properly, then why expose yourself of a risk of aggression against your drive when something has stopped working. And after all... 1x burning is not that bad... you can do other things while waiting. Read a book! Try to be social for a while. And as a bonus, your DVD-R's will be more compatible!
I wanna be bigger, stronger, drive a faster car...

  9. ghoster, Accu media are rated as 1x media. So if you can burn it at 2x and it doesn't cause any problems during playback... It is BONUS !
