Where can you find what the proper field order should be for your .avi?? Couldn't find it in VitualDub File Information.....

duplicating frames can cause jerky playback. but so can alot of things. what is your source, that would help alot. Your source fps, and you destination fps.

Files encoded at bitrates that the DVD player can't handle to well.

if you have ntsc source then when you encode to svcd the framerate must be set at 23.976 in all settings and apply pulldown 3:2, this will cure the jerkiness caused by using default setting framerate of 29.97.
One is video ntsc the other film ntsc. -
Yeah you're right but I'm presuming its probably a downloaded avi in which case it should be 23.976. Mainconcept default settings for ntsc svcd is 29.97 which has to be amended to the pulldown option above to stop jerkiness.

What bitrates are those? 'Cause I have problems with some of my dvd's pixelating - usually after 1 h or 1,5 h. I have tried to put two movies on one dvd and that almost always causes pixelation. Thus it seems like low bitrate could cause it, but why would that be?Originally Posted by puertorican138
I have also heard that the max bitrate should be set to a little bit more than double the average - is that true? If it were it would keep me from encoding in TMPEnc in higher bitrates than 4000, since they don't alow u higher bitrates than 8000.
I do know it could be a media problem, but I have tried a few brands with similar results. Could it also be my standalone (which hasn't had one single problem with any format before...) that can't handle home made dvd's?Sweet.
