  2. I wouldn't think these products would have such a difference between them. I'll just stick to using my DV camera as a pass-thru.

  3. I am relatively a "newbie" in DVDHelp.

    I have a digi8camcorder.
I have no video or audio problems when I capture files in "avi" format. However, when I capture directly as mpeg2, I obtain a metalic noise.
So, my short term solution is to keep capturing in "avi", since the convertion to DVD works just fine.

However, since my digi8 camcorder supports playing my
old analog 8mm tapes, when I "capture" (pass through, or however it does it) videos from
analog tapes, I get distored audio after 1 or 2
minutes of playback, even when I captured them as
    "avi" files.

Have you experienced this problem, and what has been
    your solution?

My Hollywood Bridge by DAZZLE "Transcode from COMPOSITE" fares the worst in your chart- I always wondered why my NTSC pass thru monitor was so colorful ;-(
So, I'm using my TARGA when QUALITY is the ISSUE
When are they (ADS) coming out with USB 2.0 instant DVD ?
The current product is 1.1 only...

I've been using my Sony DV bridge for a very long time and it works perfect, never any problems. Great device, of course my cousin gets the same thing from his camcorder now...

I capture analog thru my bt878 to dv.avi using IUVCR or virtualdub. I get different video attributes using MainConcept, Panasonic or Canopus Codecs and the 'best' (IMHO) using the directshow DV encoder to a type 1 avi. (Although that seemed to improve after installing Vegas Video 4 - does anyone know if the Sonic Foundry dv codec 'takes over' for M$?) Regardless, the resolution, noise and macroblocking all appear about the same. The difference to my eye appears to be the level of saturation, 'color correctness' and a warm or cool look to the capture. Just my 2 cents from experience.

the folks at various DV forums say the vegas DV codec is the very best .

the people at SoFo say thier codec mimics the MS dv codec file signiture.. but i dont think externally to Vegas the Vegas codec can be used ..

its not supposed to mater which codec is used for capturing , only for re-compression.
