  1. Why do I get a error that says "BAD DISC(S)" when I choose to burn on a DVD-RW or DVD-R. The same discs are burning fine with other programs like Nero, CDRWin, InstantCopy......

  2. Try disabling in options the box that says something like "recognize VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS" and that should stop the problem.

I have over 200 DVD's I did and they all play in the three different DVD players I have at home. To be safe just do a test burn using a RW disc.

I too am a registered sucker, I mean user of Record Now Max. I have had the bad disc think happen to me at the start, middle and end of writes.

I learned what the obvious thing to do was. If it works fine in Nero, CDRWin and InstandCopy, then use on of those products. I have had to go back to Nero many times and discovered the same thing you have. I did have a RN support person send me all of the error messages, the message number and what they really mean.
To tell you the truth, I found it easier to just use the products that work, rather than agonize over why RN fails sometimes on disks that are fine on every software burner in creation esxcept theirs.
Record Now is one of the great Coaster maker of all time. After running your burn on another product, it might be a good idea to post your problem on the extremely weak Record Now forum. It would be interested to see what they say.
Stomp, which markets and supports Record Now Max depends on Veritas to do any upgrades or changes. From talking to a staff member at Stomp, I understand that there is a lot of frustration within the support staff, because all they can do is make recommendations to Veritas, but they are at their mercy.

  7. yep I've gonna give up using it. For burning xbox .iso I'll stick with DVDDecrypter and for movie Nero. Record Now DX came with my sony dru500ax but I get those "BAD DISCs" error messages and other programs haven't an issue at all. Thought it was good but no where near as good as everywhere raves about. Also RecordNow won't save my settings of 'Close Disc'. Way too annoyning to deal with it. Gonna delete it when I get home POS.

  8. The problem is that I can't make the Movies with Nero, because my standalone player dosen't play CD's made with Nero. So at the moment I'm using Instant Copy to burn with, or are there other programs that will create an Image file which can be burned with CDRWin or DVD-Decrypter (*.ISO)?

How can people diss RNM i have ver 4.10 & its the only package that gives me 100% burns every time. The only time i have to disable the recognise VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders is when burning something aurthored with IFOedit.95,which is only when doing a downloaded xvid/divx file & yet even with this disabled my burn is recognised with all i have tried it on.

After using Nero for a while i was getting tired of less than happy results ie stuttering & freezing on the PS2 not even recognised by XBOX & not even on a mates player. Then moved on to RNM and not one coaster out of 80+ burns even now plays on mates play & XBOX without any probs.

I should also note i have had no probs with Prassi & Copytodvd, and would use any of these three before returning back to Zero-too many painful memories for me........

Good choice. I'm with you, go with "proven engineering solutions", meaning, go with what is successful for you, not someone else. Whatever combination works for you is the best one.

I've wasted hours myself screwing around with RN. It is so limited. Has less features than any burner around and their support stinks. Also, why don't youo send Stomp support the log file that gets created ??? Ooops I forgot, no log file, no SVCD, no VBR support for audio or video, ISO support, allegedly, but fails more than it works for that, print DVD or CD labels on it ? oops, doesn't do that either, okay have it save it ot a playlist then migrate the list to another product, oooops, can't do that either. I mean, maybe it works for someone else, with another combination of CD/DVD, etc, but it is too limited and unreliable to me. Whatever works for you mi amigo.
