  1. I have created a few DVDs in the past and played them in both my PC and on stand alone DVD Players. My windows Media player recently got a new look ( I presume from a recent windows update).

I can't seem to play my movies on DVD as well as just the mpg files

I can hear the audio portion, but no video.

Is this a codec problem? Any ideas? I created the movies with Vegas Video and rendered to .mpg with Vegas.

    Thanks

  2. Mine wants to make just about every video WS.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

Windows and The WindowsMedia Player do not have playback capabilty for DVD or MPEG-2 format
This is so Gates can avoid paying the MPEG-2 liscensing folks.
He relies on the fact that any dvd drive you buy will give you software toplay those DVD files.
Sowhen you install, these files give the WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER tHE Added ability to play mpeg-2..
So Nowyou go and update the player..
It shouldn't discard the MPEG-2 playability files, but it looks like it did
So now, just re-install the MPEG-2 application that windows had been stealing functionality from all along and it should work again!
