  1. I have noticed that this version is a bit faster compared to the previous ones. I have a movie which took 15 hours to encode. With version 12i, it took 24 hours to encode the same movie. However, the resulting VCD-MPEG1 output of this latest version is CHOPPY. Has anyone encountered this problem?

I just compared the speed and output of 12f and 12j.
    12j is 20% faster than 12f. (24'52" against 31'01&quot
I cannot see much (quality) difference between both generated MPeg streams.
What exactly do you mean by choppy ?

  4. What I mean is that the encoded movie (VCD-Mpeg1) is not smooth when played back on my PC or Pioneer 535 DVD player.
I noticed that it is jumpy. Like I said, I have encoded the same movie with 12i and it plays great. But I want to use 12j for now because of its speed. I just want the jumpy or choppy (whatever you call it) problem to be solved.

do you think that maybe you had "slow" or "slowest" set when you encoded in your previos version and have "normal" or "motion estimation" set now? it would explain the extremely large disparity in encoding times (going from i/h to j wouldn't be enough by itself to go from 24hr to 15hr)
