    Hi,

    I've made this experience:

    1) Capture, edit, encode, author and burn a SVCD project in Studio8;

    2) Capture, edit and encode the same project to a MPG SVCD compliant file and then author/burn in NERO.

The diference in quality in the 2 SVCDs are great....The number 1 is much better...

I imagine that PS8 uses the same encoder to create the disc or the MPG file...Am i right ? So, why the projects are not equal ???

    Thanks for any help,
    {}s

    Ps. I'm using PS8.521 and NERO 5.5.9.0

  2. Mistery...

What do you mean by "much better" ? Are you trying to compare same footage ?

  3. OK... I just checked my 8.5.3 version on laptop and only reason that I found is that...

SVCD MPEG2 file is encoded with these settings that are preset
Filter video ON Draft Mode ON bitrate 2400 Kbits/sec

    and

SVCD DISC is encoded with these settings that can be changed
Filter video OFF Draft Mode OFF bitrate max 2500 Kbits/sec

So there is your answer.... What I believe that is affecting result mostly is "Draft mode". You should get same results by selecting same options. For MPEG2 select custom to uncheck Draft and Filter.

    DonPedro,

I think youŽre right...If the SVCD compliant "template" presets like you said, thats the reason.

    Tonight i will trie again....

Just another thing, have you heard about a way to configure the resolution of the SVCDs burned into PS8 ??? A tweak, a config file or anything else ? ( iŽd like to create a CVD directly into PS8 !!! ).

    Thanks...

  5. I don't believe that you can create and burn CVD is PS8, but what you should be able to do is create MPEG2 file (custom option) that you need in PS8 and then author it and burn it with somethink else.
