    i`ve heard you can encode in panasonic
    and get a 600-1150kbits mpeg file that is compliant
    and get alot more info on the cd ...
    you can even put two hours of mpeg1 video (vcd)
    that is totaly compliant ...
    that`s what u`ve heard at any case .

    vcds use 1150k bitrate. If you use anything else than it is non-compliant and cannot be guaranteed to play on a standalone dvd player, although often will.

    Yes you can lower the bitrate and fit more of your movie onto each cdr, however vcds already use such a low bitrate that using anything less really causes a noticable quality difference. 600kbits per sec is barely enough bitrate to display credits, use that for your movie and it will be practically unwatchable.
