  1. Ok I have learned how to make vcd's and burn my own dvd's and all has turned out very well.

    What I need to know is this.

    I have a few Divx files that I would like to put on DVD so that I may watch them on my stand alone.

    1-what is the best way to convert PAL to NTSC?

    2-How do I extract the audio, and re-encode it so that my reciever will play it in 5.1 pro logic surround sound?

    If anyone can just point me in the general direction of some good instructions I would be very grateful. Thanks

    Hey there . . .

    Just a couple of points for you to consider . . .

    1) check if your DVD player can handle PAL discs - if it can, why not cut out an extra step and leave your converted movies as PAL format?

    2) this step depends entirely on whether your original AVI file has an AC3 soundtrack or not - if you check out the guides on this web site, you'll find advice that's a lot more complete than what I can give you concerning this aspect of the conversion process.

    Cheers,

    B.

    Besweet is the best way to convert your audio because if you have the ac3 you can downmix 5.1 to pro-logic, and it can slow down your audio for PAL-->NTSC conversion. Pro-logic decodes to 4 channel and not 5.1.

    PAL-->NTSC conversion guide: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/78178.php

    This shows you how to convert the framerate with avisynth or virtualdub and slow down audio with besweet or cool edit. I would suggest you use VirtualDub and Besweet.
