Machine:
Fresh XP Pro Install with SP1 - Latest drivers
Asus A7A266 Athlon 1.333GHz 512 DDR
20,40,80G 7200 RPM drives & Pioneer A05 DVD-RW
Asus 7100 Video Card & onboard Sound etc.
I'd like to think I'm an advanced user but can't put my finger on this one.
I've enabled DMA, blah, blah etc. Thats not the problem.
I have a SNAZZI capture board (V-One Bali PCI MPEG1-2) which captures fine using MovieMill in MPEG1 format. When I capture in MPEG2 it locks up between 5 - 40 minutes. Greater HD bandwidth of course.
I also was lent a ADS Instant DVD (USB1.1) to try. Guess what? Same problems.
Questions:
1)Is this an IRQ problem?
2)Does the chipset just suck? Time to buy a NForce?
3)Are XP services in the background killing me?
Separate Question:
My 1394 and Panasonic DV601 works flawlessly, can I avoid the recording and simple go straight to the HD thru the camera for DV? Recording 1 hour on DV abd then dropping 1 hour later to the HardDrive and then spending 20 minutes converting to MPEG2 is a slow process.
OK, thanks in advance.
