  1. My drive is currently Primary Master (although I don't think this really matters too much)
    Downloaded ForceAspi from here:
    ftp://ftp.321studios.com/ASPI/ForceASPI.exe

    Installed and rebooted.

Downgraded my firmware to 1.0d - got it from here:
    http://www.sonydru500a.com/guides/FirmwareUpdateDRU500A10d.zip

    Rebooted

Opened up Stomp Record Now Max - Off it went on Ritek at 4x.

Many other members had said that 1.0d was best for 4x, but it didn't work for me origianlly - thought I'd try again, and it did this time. GO3s only burn at 1x with this firmware though.

I know what will happen noew - I will post this, and my next one will burn at 2x. I've only got 1 disc left actually!!!!

    Worth a try anyway!

    Cheers.

  2. I've done about 15 ritek g04 at 4X since downgrading from 2.0e to 1.0d. DVDDecrypter author Lightning UK! said he got 2.0c and is able to burn riteks at 4X. Well that's a first.

I've also burned about 10 or so G04 @ 4x since downgrading my 500AX to v1.0d, same quality, half the time.

  4. Same here, I downgraded my Sony DRU500a to the 1.0d and I can now burn my Riteks 4x at 4x. Interesting though, now my 2x ritek are back to 1x, but the sony and lead data are at 2x. So I will go back and forthe with the firmware when needed.

  5. I'm looking to downgrade to 1.0a so I can put 4.7GB on a single CDR at 10x.

  6. I have the external DRU-500UL, and I am able to burn Ritek 4x media at 4x on every version of firmware from 1.0d up. I burned 5 movies this weekend, one with each revision of the firmware. Each burned in 15 minutes (plus 15 minutes for a test run, I hate wasting media) and played fine. I also did not loose 2x burn capability on my Samsung BeAll media. I use RecordNow MAX 4.5 to burn.
