  1. i kind of remember this subject came up a long time ago... well, here's a question: i'm looking for two tools...

    1. something to compare two different video files, assume i've created one file with compression a and another one with compression b, both identical, i would like to have one in window a, the other one in window b, and see simultaneous playback, forward, reverse etc. (yeah, i could 'matrix' it in videomach, but any other suggestions?)

    2. audio synchronisation... is there something that would allow to load up an avi, or an avi and a wav, and replay a section of that avi (looping) with two buttons to find out the optimal 'adjustment' (delay / preload) for the audio file compared with the video file?

  2. I am unaware of any program that can do what you wanted. But there might be some way around it.

    a) for comparing video files, you can open two copies of VirtualDub with two videos loaded. It can't be automatic palyback or on foreground simultaneously. But you can get some kind of frame to frame comparison.

b)a/v synch is one of nastiest thing to deal with. Maybe a pair of good eyes and ears and a stop-watch are all you need

  3. duh...

yeah, i used vdub, i've also used premiere or media studio to compare two files (put file 1 on track 1, file 2 on track 2, set source edit on file 1, with the two 'windows' one will show file 1, one will show file 2, but it's a bit of a hassle)

re audio sync... anybody ever used 'innuendo'?
