  1. and then the same cd will play fine in my computer's dvd-rom.

    i make my vcd's with TMPGEnc. i've tried burning with nero and VCDEasy.

    bad burner? bad codec? bad dvd player(dvd's play perfect)?

    any ideas i'd very much appreciate it.

    sounds pretty straight forward, your dvd player doesn't like that particular cd-media,try a different brand with the SAME exact settings and see what happens

    type of dvd player - JVC XV-S300
    cd's - Imation and Phillips
    Burner - Creative - 8-4-32
    do you need specific TMPGEnc settings?

    i'd only suggest you buy a different type cd-r/rw like memorex, or fuji . take the same original file(from you hd) burn it to the new disks and try it. I had the same problem, my dvd player for some reason doesn't like "philips" brand cd's but almost all other brands work fine.

    Are you making compliant VCD's. Are you altering the bitrate from the VCD standard? VCD's out of spec (XVCD's) won't play on some machines.

    Also, try a lower burn speed maybe, like 2 or 4X.
