  1. hi guys,

I just cant get TMPGE to convert a 16:9 format AVI file, to 16:9 MPEG 2 file.

it does convert the AVI, but always to 4:3 no matter what settings I try

ive selected the source as both 4:3 , and 16:9, but either way, it still outputs to 4:3

also, I have tried the output file set to both 16:9 and 4:3 formats

basically, it always make the new MPEG file 4:3, regardless of what i set it to

    any ideas ?

    its driving me nutz !!!

    cheers

    Buganna.

  2. You need to set both source and TARGET to 16:9 (Target is the Video Tab, "Aspect ratio" pulldown).

  3. You may also want to try making sure that on the Advance tab that Video Arrange Method is set to "Full screen(Keep aspect ratio)

I think you need to set your source aspect ratio to 1:1. That doesn't mean that it's a square picture it just means that the pixels are square and not stretched. For instance, a 4:3 DAR mpeg file with 720x480 resolution will look the same size, aspect ratio, ect. as a 1:1 DAR mpeg file or an avi with 640x480 resolution (640/480=4/3).

i used your methods and it now works fine !

I did not even know about these options !
