When I try different DVD+RW media which are not Ricoh brand I cannot erase the media anymore after one burn session.
Tested DVD+RW media: TDK, Verbatim, Sony
Ricoh MP5125 with firmware 1.51
win 98se
Same problem with different burm apps: Nero, Record Now Max, Discjuggler
I am using a RICOH DVD+RW 5125 DVD burner which works quite good.
No problems experienced up to now with Ricoh DVD+R and DVD+RW media.
Can anyone help me???

Huma,
I have the same drive, Ricoh MP5125a with firmware 1.51 and have no issues with erasing RW media including Verbatim, Ricoh, Optodisc. I have just tried this using Nero 5.5.10.15a and RW discs as either DVD+RW book or DVD-ROM book type with no problems. I would certainly look at updating your OS to WinXP however, given that 98 was not designed with DVD burners in mind.
For what purpose do you need to erase anyway? In the overwriting of a +RW disc existing data presents no issues. Personally I NEVER erase my +RW's, just let the burning app overwrite them. And i've done this hundreds of times.

It is impossible to overwrite or erase these DVD+RWs.
Nero says: CSCI target error
Discjuggler says: unknown media or invalid last track mode or communication error
