  1. Can anybody explain this to me please ...

I burned VCD using Nero Express + TDK CD Writer but I can't read the DAT file using Windows Media Player, Xing or VCDCutter.
BUT it can be read by VCD Player !!!
Is that about DAT file format? What format ?

Most VCD DAT file could be read very well using Media Player, Xing or VCDCutter but poorly read using VCD Player.
Why ? Not about the format, isn't it?
    Different CD head sensitivity ??

    Thanks a lot ...

HERE iS A PROBLEM I FIND WITH that DVDR HELP item you cite!...
The GUIDE SAYS just hit play on insertion of VCD material if you use WINDVD or POWER DVD for playback instead of WMP.
WHAT they don't tell you is this doesn't work if you have more than one CD-ROM in you system, let alone three like folks over here these days. (one CD BURNER one DVD Burner One DVD Player)- here
SO you need to know how to select the CURRENTLY ACTIVE OPTICAL DRIVE DEVICE to the SOFTWARE, which differs in the two player interfaces....
