    I'm going to be a cheeky monkey and post 2 back to back.

    Again been messing around with TMPGENC. Thinking of increasing the size of VCD frame (352 x 288 for PAL) to something like the SVCD spec (480 X 576 for PAL). Also maybe upping the bitrate to say 1800. This is just to get better quality. Would this be defined as an XVCD? Its it the size and bitrate in combination that defines SVCD or is it the way the video/audio stream is compressed.


    I know its kind of pedantic - that's the kind of dude I am.

  2. Hmm... I dont know, but I do not believe it will be compliant and wont work in 99% of all stand alone DVD players that support vcd/svcd.

  3. The proposed changes are generally classified as XVCD.

    A great many standalone players will handle video encoded that way just fine. Check the compatibility list posted on this site if you aren't sure about yours.
