i'm having a weird error with CCE, for some reason it can't read past frame 14850 in a captued PAL DV file. it won't go past this frame in the source range setting, but it reads the whole file when writing the .vaf file. once it begins creating the .mpv file, it gets as far as 14850 and gives up. any ideas? i scan the video for errors in Vdub, no problems, so cce seems to be at fault here.

didn't fix this situation, in the end i frameserved the file through TMPGenc with VFAPI, which CCE was happy to read, right to the end.

I often do the same thing with AVISynth. I've downloaded a couple of AVI's like that. The problem only appears using multipass.
Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything... -
Are you using CCE 2.50? If so then your problem is highly likely caused by the fact that v2.50 can't handle AVI files larger than 2GB.
Frameserving is the answer and I recommend using AVISynth as there is hardly any overhead in encoding speed and it has many powerful filters. -
q1aqza, yeah i just read the version revision history on the CCE website, i'll have to upgrade to a newer version
or i'll try avisynth, resize etc comes in handy.....
