I have a DVDR that has a crappy menu, and I want to make an exact replica (no quality loss) but author a nice menu and chapters. What tools would I need to do this?

Movie Factory 2 won't do it because it won't import AC3--it requires me to take the audio to wav first, and I'm afraid there would be a quality loss. TMPGEnc doesn't output AC3, so I can't use it, either.

What's the easiest/best way to get this DVDR copied and change the menu?

    Thanks,
    Brian

    a) Movie Factory 2 can import AC3 by "replace audio".
    b) Other author tools supporting AC3: SpruceUp, DVD-workshop, DVDit-PE, ImpressionDVD, Reel-DVD, DVD-maestro...

  3. If all you want to do is create a new menu there's no need to do anything with the VOBs containing your main movie. However, the 'easiest' thing to do is generate your menu, then demux the VOBs to m2v + ac3 (eg. smartipper), then re-author everything how you'd like it (eg. DVD Maestro).

I was thinking it would be easiest if I could just import the audio and video directly into my authoring software. Some software, like DVDit! allows that, I believe. What do you think? Can I do that?

Plus, I'd like to keep the audio in AC3 format, and I don't think TMPGEnc outputs AC3.
