I'm trying to convert some .wmv files I have into .mpeg so I can burn them on VCD. They will not load in TMPGEnc, even if I rename the file to .asf.

Does anyone know why they won't load, and how can I do this?

I am using the latest version of TMPGEnc by the way.

It still won't work. I keep getting an "unsupported" message.

These are .wmv files that I downloaded. Is there a protection on them or something? Really wierd (and annoying.)

  4. Have you installed the WMV encoder?

  5. I'd leave the extension as .wmv, but maybe get ASFTools (on this site under TOOLS section) and run the Repair on the file, and then try to load it. Yes, make sure you have the .wmv codec

  6. Don't Leave the extention as wmv, The author isn't dumb enough to be sued by Microsoft. .Avi works for me.

Where can I get this wmv codec you talk about? How can I tell if I have it or not? The .wmv plays on my computer.

Thanks everyone...all I needed was to install the latest WMV codec. Appreciate the help.
