  1. Hey all.....I'm pretty familiar with VCD's...I've been making them for about a year now. But I just got my first SVCD's and I'm having a problem watching/converting them. Anytime I watch them in WM Player, Sasami, Elecard, etc....I get this annoying white box that starts in the upper right hand corner and jumps around all over the place. When I try to convert from MPEG2 to MPEG1 in TMPGEnc I get the same thing in my new MPEG1! I tried this on my Dad's computer and the little white box is still there, but it stays in the upper right hand corner.

    What is that white box?

How do I keep it from jumping around?

How do I get rid of it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Probably your mpeg2 decoder. Remove the mpeg2 decoder in your system and then install PowerDVD or other soft that comes with an mpeg 2 decoder.

  3. Okay....so I uninstalled all my old mpeg2 codecs and I was getting ready to install new ones when I thought I'd try it again.......

BINGO.....The white box is still there, but now it doesn't move! Much better.

Sooo....I tried this on 3 computers and got the same annoying white box in the upper right corner of my MPEG-2? WTF is this??

    Thanks.

Your question is already answered previously. You are probably using a freeware MPEG2 decoder (elecard or something). When you have an MPEG file open in WMP click file>properties and it will show the codc you are using. As suggested by Mats, intsall PowerDVD or WinDVD and that will get rid of the box.

Just intalling a trial version of one of these is usually enough to keep their MPEG2 decoders operational
