This is going to sound stupid but I have made several DVD Backups using DVD2SVCD. Whenever I would author my DVD, I would import the pulldown_encoded*.m2v and the *.ac3 files. Well, everything has seemed ok so far except for my last backup. This was City by the Sea. It appeared as though the audio was just slightly out of sync. Upon further investigation, I found that there seemed to be a slight sync difference from the original. Looking at the files that DVD2SVCD produced, I found two *.ac3 files. One was labeled extracted_audio.ac3 and another encoded_audio.ac3. I never realized that there were two *.ac3 files created by DVD2SVCD. I found that the length of the extracted_audio was about 3/4 of a second longer than the encoded_audio file. The encoded_audio file was just .02 seconds longer than the movie and the extracted_audio was about .75 seconds longer than the movie. Am I supposed to use one over the other? I know that the first time around, authoring the DVD, I used the extracted_audio file. I tried a second authoring using the encoded_audio file and it seemed much better, if not perfect. Anyone have any words of wisdom. I know it sounds dumb, but I never even noticed this before. Thanks.
Todd

I read through your post too quickly and didnt note which authoring program you use, but I do the DVD2SVCD program and have been putting 2 movies on 1 DVD-R. Here is all I do, I take the resulting MPEG and dump it into Movie Factory 2 and then burn it with menus and whatnot. I dont even mess with the audio (mostly since MF2 doesnt support AC3.

I use DVD2SVCD for DVD backups using CCE. I always use the extracted ac3. Haven't had any problems so far. Actually I did City By The Sea using this method.
I use DVDMaestro to author.
