What type of movie are they, Vcd, Svcd, Dvd, Divx-Avi, DV-Avi, mpeg, Asf, rm? How were they created? What is the source? What programs have you used? What steps have you performed? Are you watching on your PC or TV? If you give as much detail as possible then someone may be able to help. Vagueness will only get vague answers, if any.

  3. The movies are downloaded as a .avi the i used the tmpgenc to get them into svcd form and then used vcdeasy to burn them to disc. I watched them on mt tv and the picture is not clear. everything matches (video and audio)but the vidoe is messed up.

Downlaoded AVI, need more than that. Some AVi's are from DVD backups, while other's are converted from VCD's that were shot from a DV CAM. Nothing you do for the DV CAM/VCD conversions will help it look better than crapola. DVD backups of AVI's will generally convert pretty well to VCD or SVCD.

DivX are 1:1, while a TV is 4:3 or 16:9; are you suffering from sqinny/squished video? Definately sounds like something you are doing. I've converted DVD_DivX with TMPG in CBR mode and they look great. Try DVD2SVCD in file mode for doing AVI2SVCD???
