I baught a dvd, which the subtitles have some mispellings which piss me off, is there a way to edit these?

Yeah, well i figured out a way to get them, but its the trick of actually getting them off the DVD.
I have to use the terminal and mplayer to extract them.
Its really hard and confusing.
Does anyone know the correct terminal inpt to get an srt from a dvd using mplayer?
I found the commands, its just getting them correctly is the problem.
