    From the guide it looks like it's just a vcd with 48khz sound on a DVD disc. So does that make it a VCD burned on a DVD disc? Or is it a low quality (352x240, etc) DVD file on a DVD disc?

    It is VCD size mpeg1 video mastered on a DVD to include DVD regulation audio (48k) and the normal DVD IFO / VIDEO_TS file/directory structure.
