  1. When I try to convert newer movies (Insomnia, One Hour Photo) my programs will not convert audio. I have tried using Tmpeg, ulead, and winmpg and none of them are able to convert the entire file with audio. Is there a new program or codec I am missing? thanks

  2. Could be a lot of things, first off I would think either AC3 or MP3 audio. What does GSpot say? (d/load gspot from the tools section or doom9.org).

  4. i have the codec now, so if i convert with tmpeg or ulead will the audio work? If not any suggestions on what i should do. Thanks

  5. Probably, try encoding a few minutes, before you commit to the whole thing. Otherwise, try making a separate wav file from the avi, in virtualdub, then loading that as the audio in TMPGenc.

  6. Tmpeg would not let me convert with it, I have version 2.58. Will another version of tmpeg let me use it or are there any good codecs for tmpeg i could use?

  7. Did you try the Virtualdum method?

There is probaby nothing wrong with TMPGenc, so if you havent tried the virtualdub, make wav, encode method, give it a go.

Also, have all the movies you are having trouble with come from the same source?

hi same thing happend to me .
    try this.
OK I finally was able to convert from xvid and here is the simple way I did it:

First of all I used TMPGEnc 2.5 (version 5.59.47)

After starting TMPGEnc, close the wizard.

Go to Options and choose Enviromental Setting.

Now click on the VFAPIplug-in tab.

Adjust all the plug-in priorities to match the following.

    Directshow Multimedia File Reader..................3
    AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader............................1
    AVI VFW Compatibility Reader.........................0
    Ligos MPEG-2 Decoder....................................0
    CyberLink Mpeg-2 Decoder.............................0
    Microsoft MPEG-1 Decoder..............................0
    Wave File Reader............................................ 0
    BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG File Reader........................-2
    TMPGEnc Project File Reader..........................-2

  9. TMPGenc will not accept AC3 audio streams. You need to extract the AC3 stream and/or convert it to a wav file. You should be able to use VirtualDub or the BeSweet GUI to do this (see the userguide forum, and search for Besweet or take a look at:

    http://www.doom9.org/audio-guides.htm

Once you have the wav file you can encode the audio from that and the video from the DiVX (might have to generate a video only avi from the DivX depending on the software you're using).

  10. ok i understand what both people are saying. Virtual dub will not let me even begin converting the audio of the file. Tmpeg i cant change my environmental settings, how do u do t? Do u just click on the number b/c that isnt working for me.

Right click to change the settings in TMPGEnc.

Virtualdub will not create a Wav file from AC3. It will create a file with the extension .wav but it is still an AC3 file which can then be converted using Headac3he (rename it to .AC3 first), or you can do it all with Goldwave or Besweet. If you need more details just ask.

I think you should takes Zippy's advice!!

It doesn't matter how much you alter the enviromental settings in TMPGenc...you will NOT be able to use the audio in its present form...ie in AC3 format...follow Zippy's advice and convert the audio to WAV with either Headache or Besweet.

What you should do is get a wav audio file from your source and use that wav as the audio input for TMPGEnc. You can create the wav file from the AC3 source using this guide: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=91588
The guide gives you two options, one using Headac3he and the other uses Ac3tool. Other options are to use Besweet or Goldwave to extract a wav file. Using Goldwave you simply load in your avi then select save, it's that simple. All these tools are in the "Tools" section (over there <<<<<<<) or are easily located by doing a Google search.

You also should be using an external audio encoder within TMPGEnc as it's audio isn't very good. Use Toolame, it's in the Tools section along with instructions how to install in TMPGEnc.

    Hope that gets you going.
