Will a MiniDV cassette without a memory chip produce a recording with a timecode?

Just about any digital video camera, be it MiniDV or Digital8, should produce a timecode. Follow this procedure, called striping, and it should be okay: Put your MiniDV tape in the camera, then, making sure that the lenscap is still on, put the camera in record mode, just like you were videotaping something. Let the camera record all the way to the end of the tape. It's as simple as that. The net effect will be that you've just taped an hour's worth of black, but the tape will be striped. Then just rewind the tape and you're ready to go. If you do all your blank tapes this way, you can do batch capturing in Premiere.
