    Hi all,
I've downloaded some of the THX, DTS and 5.1 trailers.
I want to play them on my DVD player but maintaining the discreet surround channels.
Is there a fairly quick way of doing this?
I've used the likes of dvd2avi, dvddecrypter, TMPGenc, virtualdub before so I'm not a complete novice.. Just I've only ever needed the stereo..

    Cheers,

First of all, I assume you're not planning to use THX sound on a SVCD but rather on a DVD

To author a DVD with such a soundtrack, the only program's I've seen able to do so are Scenarist and DVDMaestro.

You need to rip the m2v file out of the VOBs (SmartRipper can do that) and then use the video stream and the soundtrack as assets to these authoring programs.

Don't know if any of the budget authoring programs (Ulead DVD Workshop for example) would allow such a soundtrack, but you can download and try out some of them (e.g. DVD Workshop).

I'm currently re-installing everything clean on my PC, so I have the opportunity to "retry" DVD Workshop. I will give it a try myself.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

Actually I was only planning on putting it to CD not DVD.
As they're only short clips I thought a CD would be OK. Is that not the case and it needs to be on DVD?
Can you not burn short files in 'dvd' format on CD's?

    Thanks again,

  4. dvd files on a cd-r are called "mini dvd"
most settop dvd players will not accept them, but you can try any way.

if it doesnt work, you will need to convert it to a format that it can read (vcd, svcd, cvd) but you will loose the surround sound...

or you can use your computer as a player
(if you have a surround soundcard and a TVout)

    Thanks,
I'd rather try the 'minidvd' route first. It's only a blank CD....
I've got a Yelo800 which has played everything I've put in it upto now...
    Just need to know how...
