For immediate press release, March 20, 2003. 1PM EST.
Consumer electronics supermegaultra giant SphincterTech (NYSE: SHIT) today announced their own proprietary home DVD recording format, DVD/R. DVD/R combines the best features of two other DVD recording formats, DVD-R and DVD+R. What these features are, no one has been able to determine yet. "DVD/R is going to be the standard for ALL home DVD burning applications. Why? Because I think so," said DVD/R Cartel spokesman Jack McCrank stated at a press conference today. "We are trying to give the consumer the broadest choices of selection, so that when the average Joe Blowme sets out to buy his home DVD pirating hardware and accessories, he will need to do extensive research before making an accurately informed purchase. Our media will be the same price as both +R and -R, as well as our recorders. And further, I will personally guarantee 100% compatibility with every single piece of electronics equipment ever assembled on earth that is designed to read DVD media. We will achieve the deepest consumer penetration possible. Currently, we have no other supporters of this technology, but our format is better so that is unimportant."
If this seems ludicrous, don't worry, that's just your eyes doing some reading.

I think someone released this about two weeks early. Should this not be released on 1 APRIL 2003 to get the consumers full attention.

I just checked the latest sites and my burner now supports the new format. I can't wait to order my first test pack. I heard they are for sale at wtf.com

So does mine, but it requires a hardware/software/firmware/vaporware/tupperware upgrade. I have to call customer support and have them send the upgrade freight collect. Finally I can burn in a universal standard!
Do I know you? You look familiar... -
Don't you know, this format is also doomed!

Willtgpo, my real dad, told me to make a maximum of 5,806 posts on vcdhelp.com in one lifetime. So I have. -
intersting article, I can't wait for this great new format to be released so I can jump all over it. Yippeeee...actually, I have inside info on the REAL format that will put Blu-Ray and the "rest" TO "rest" for good. Don't tell anyone I mentioned this, but the format is (>)
(=)
Don't let the signs confuse you...the newest and greatest format is called "greater then or = to" and it is VERY complicated but in simple terms it means that this format will be GREATER THEN or at the VERY LEAST, = to ANY other format imaginable.
Of course I won't worry, because the greatest electronics GIANT in the World, those BAD AZZES from SONY said firmware 10.0ABCDEFGHI will make all of the current SONY burners recognize and burn this format, as well as bankrupt that crap, inferior company, Pioneer at the same time. Oh, one last thing...you WON'T be able to use Nero to burn this greater then or equal to format, because, well...again in simple terms, NERO SUCKS! :icon6:
