verbatim dvd-r 2.0 and Sony dru500a

I have read a notice of verbatim: dvd-r version 2.0 is compatible with sony dru 500a...Result...3 write 3 piece of shit....The write stop at 500mb with a "write error 0xshit,shit,shit"....Anyone have the same problem?

I bought 15 Verbatim DVD+R from BestBuy and all 15 were defective above 4GB om my Sony 500A.

I bought the dvd+r 4x Verbatim at Best Buy, 5 for 15, or 9 + 1 Dvd+RW for 30, they are burned for me at 4x, DRU500AX.
It's the only 4x media I can find around here, Seattle. Hey it works for me, plays on all my stand alones. But not on my friend's expensive Sony player. Works in Playstations...
It works and I will stick with it.
New 2.0 patch? you're not getting me to fall for that. If it works, don't change it.
For some reason I can't get Verbatim dvd-r media to burn though...
Memorex doesn't work either... hmmm
Buy.com had dvd+r 2x 15 for 25 after rebate...

The 4x verbatim have a new formula,the problem is with 2.0 (2x)...I'm no the only wich have the problem.My friends with pioneer a03 have the same problem with verbatim.

That's funny...I've been using Verbatim DVD+RW, DVD+R (4x), and TDKs without any problems on my Sony dru-500a(updated to firmware 2.0e). I bought the Verbatim 4x dvd+r that comes in 5-pack for $14.99 at Best Buy. It writes at 4x speeds everytime and works great. Sometimes it's not just your drive or the media, there could be other factors in your system that could be the cause of problems.

Here's the reason you can't burn dvd-r (2x)by earlier version of Verbatim. Sony even states this here:
