Bug update! Just read there are "crashing problems" with the 1:1 copy function. Also, with the 1:1 function, you can't strip audio stream!
mmmm, I think I might wait a bit. My movie only version is working fine.

No, you can not adjust quality for individual titles. That downside and not being able to strip audio streams in the 1:1 mode!
I have been a huge supporter of this software since it first came out, but I do not think the upgrade is ready for primetime. However it is, IMHO, the best software out there for Quick movie-only conversions under 6 gig.

I just read the idea of using DVD decryptor to strip unwanted audio streams. Seems like a good idea, since you have to rip the DVD anyway. But I wonder if you will be able to use the resulting files directly in DVD2one, or will there be problems with the ifo files?
I will test and post results. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

anyone else see this? (i want to get the lowest price possible) -
There is a quick guide by Renee on how to strip audio and subtitles by ifoedit before doing a 1:1 copy. See this thread:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66382 -
Well if you can strip audio then it wouldn't be a 1:1 copy now wouldn't it? So I can see why they didn't have that option. Still if you did 1:1 without that audio stream there will be a link in the dvd that will have nothing so wouldn't it be easier to delete it from the menu's and then relink it all so you don't have to worry about clicking a bad link.

i've lived on CCE for a long time and I will sacrifice some quality vs. speed.
Questions for people who have used the newest version..can u actually define a number for the size of the extras and the movie or is it a percentage type of method.
Because Right now I use dvd2one 1.02 to fit the full dvd on one dvd-r, i use ifoedit, ifoupdate along with dvd2one on each title set that That i want to keep and needs to be transcoded....I get rid of unwanted dvd stuff like trailers but keep deleted scenes and making.check out http://www.geocities.com/eatin_sammiches/sprucecreations.html to download additonal buttons and backgrounds for SPRUCE-UP menu creation -

Because of this, I prefer Instant Copy over DVD2One... -
i upgraded my version of dvd2one to the newest one.. and i can honestly say, i'm not that impressed..
the only real feature they've added is the fact that you can define the output size..
adding this 1:1 copy really isnt that good since you cant select which audio streams you want to keep and such.. because i only really want 1 audio stream, and in rare cases i'll want a second.. but usually there are like 4. ac3 6ch, ac3 2ch, ac3 2ch (french), & ac3 2ch (dir com), sometimes there is a dts track.. all of those will eat up lots of space that could have went towards the movie looking better.
what would be cool is if they had the 1:1 feature, which lets you select which audio streams you want to keep and which extras/menus you want to keep.. also a quality slider would be nice too. and the ability to do multi-episode discs..
i tried doing "cast away" last night with dvd2one, but first stripping out all the uwanted audio tracks and keeping only the ac3 6ch audio track.. but for some reason ifoedit was acting funky with it.. "cast away" was actually my first dvd->svcd encode and i remember having problems with its audio track, so i'm assuming they still linger.
i havent tried pinnacle instantcopy out since the initial release. i tried doing lotr and it kept crapping out on me, so i just gave up on it. i even had the (at the time) updated version. has it gotten any better? -
Everyone whine and cried to the author of DVD2ONE to do a FULL DVD... A 1:1 option on his program... Now that he has done it, you guys want something else... As psychoace said, if you strip anything from the original DVD, it won't be a 1:1 copy anymore...
Just wait until the guy comes out with a new version and stop complaining that much... He is doing everything you guys want and real fast too...

the only good thing about DVD2one at the moment still is it's speed
which cannot be beaten
you can strip all the extras and stuff before hand to give DVD2One more space to work with giving better quality and no doubt DVD2One will eventually include the option to reduce extras individually and will be great when it does
but for now DVD2One users should actually appreciate the fact it does 1:1 with what you feed it or would you have preferred if they waited until the extras reduction ooption was also included before the update?
If they did that you would still be using it for movie only and having to rebuild your DVD's
using DVD95Copy is the best option at the moment as you can reduce extras and then you gain more space giving better quality on the main movie tho the title removal feature actually removes complete titlesets and not individual titles
don't bite the hand that feeds you -

yes, just use any DVD image burning software
nero etc
stick backup in one drive, blank in other and 15 mins later a duplicate
but why make 2 backups? -

I have tried v1.1.1 on 10 titles now and I am very satisfy with it. I am using full disk copy with output size set to 4350 MB. It leaves a bit of space on the disk edge while using enough space for decent quality output, even on full DVD-9
Quality is good and the software is still very fast. I was using Pinnacle InstantCopy but I am returning to DVD2one now.
Has for removing features or audio tracks, remember you will get invalid navigation links by doing so. I do not recommend removing features.
On a side note, it seems DVD2one is processing 1:1 copies in a much better manner than InstantCopy. It looks like its compressing everything with a calculated ratio, resulting in an exact output size wich gives all available spaces to the output.
InstantCopy is NOT compressing the smallest files and with titles with lots of small video files, it results in less availaible space for the movie. Also InstantCopy is not very efficient at calculating the output size, giving again less space for the main movie.
The drawback of DVD2one method is less options, but if the goal is to make 1:1 copies, you dont need options. Instead of wasting time and efforts on allowing options on 1:1 copies, it would be better to assign those ressources to improve quality... -
4350MB, what about the other 139MB?
thats over 3% wasted??!??!?
If you have IC and feel the need to use sometime take a look at the link below and you will find information on how to get better results
or even use the Prepare DVD guides also there to strip the DVD before giving it to DVD2One to allow more space for the stuff you wanna keep
Instantcopy has no problems 1:1 if you do not use the 'reg hack' to remove Titles, it's the users that cause the problems by taking IC beyond it's specification. DVD95Copy also does a great job of 1:1, so does DVD2ONe, so no one is better than the other 2 in this field apart from a few problematic DVD's between them

njoy! and put some more data on the DVD
p.s. you sure about quality on a 'full' DVD9 using DVD2One?. Take a look at the % of the video content you are compressing the backup too instead -

@herbapou
That was a wise decision to leave a little space.

Does the new version allow you to make the output size less than 4g
I would rather loose more quality than throw away 10% of the new ritek discs I got that are freezing in the end of a full disc -
Birdygal, I do not use riteks but have thought about it. Now I wonder. I have had great results with Optodisc and Meritline "flippers" I use the flippers when I really want to perserve the original quality and structure of the DVD and not have to use 2 seperate discs. So far--knock on wood--I have never had edge of disc playback problems.

The first 200 riteks I used were great 1 coaster out of 200 the last batch I bought I have had skipping and freezing near the end when the whole disc is used, no problems when less than 4g I will gladly settle for a bit less quality by sqeezing the main movie some more than to throw away the 200 I just bought since my setup is the same as always I suspect the newer riteks just are not as good quality as the ones I purchased before

LOL, try using Nero and checking out the medium info and you will find the true size as some burning software actually lies about it
4,707,057,664bytes=4596736Kb=4,489MB=4.3837GB is about the max capacity of a blank DVD
best explained here http://www.nue.org/foldoc/foldoc.cgi?megabytes
there are 1024MB in a GB and each unit is multiplied/divided by 1024 to get the next, but I think you are thinking its a 1000 which is a very common mistake called marketroid
http://www.nue.org/foldoc/foldoc.cgi?marketroid
and this is why the industry claims they are 4.7Gb, but thats Gigabytes, not Gigabits that windows reports or the other way round or something like that
Harddrives are they same, you go buy an 80Gb Harddrive, you get home and install it and it's only reported as 74.5Gb in Windows explorer!
so I guess I still don't know that its only 4350, so nero must be burning on the other side -

birdygal: Lookout that kinda what I thought happened to me, after about 10 bad burns and lots of playing with firmware I started to have it happen on other places on the disk also, next thing I know I troubleshot the heck out of it and many high quality disk later discovered that indeed my laser was out of alignment... I'm waiting on my replacement from Pioneer as I type... stupid slow mail system...

Is it possible to use Dvd2One 1.1 to compress all the dvd (menus, extras etc) and then use Dvd2dvdr (or simply CCE ) to encode the main movie ?!
Of course keeping in mind the size of all in the end !!
The ideia is to keep the best quality in the movie and compress with Dvd2One the extras.
Will there be problems because of the audio tracks or ifo files ??
Think a little all you pros and lets talk about it.
