Is the purple video/audio input breakout box and audio/composite/s-video output cable used by the All in Wonder 128 pro the same as the one used by the original Radeon AIW, the AIW 7500, the AIW 8500, and/or the AIW 8500DV?
I've just about had it with having to hand-install guerrilla driver upgrades, and I'm seriously thinking about throwing in the towel, admitting that ATI successfully screwed me out of having a useful card by arbitrarily declaring the Rage-based cards to be useless and obsolete (despite having the same capture hardware as the newer cards), and spending $50 or so to buy an older Radeon AIW on eBay to replace my 128 pro. The thing is... the really cheap ones all lack cables. If the Radeon-based AIWs use the same ones as the 128 pro, that's not a big deal. But if it is... well, that basically doubles the cost![]()

MiamiCanes,
I use the ATI Rage Fury Pro (AGP 4x), although it is not the AIW 128 pro. However, I am not experiencing any major capture problems aside from system limitations. My system is fairly plain jane with nothing fancy going on. I am just using composite video cables connected directly to the Video In port on my ATI card. Note not using S-Video or other. Just one cable for video. Sound goes into the Line In port on the mobo. I am currently using MMC 7.6 to do my captures. I mainly capture directly to mpeg1 but I have tried some mpeg2 captures with out any problems. I prefer to capture to mpeg1 because I find it easier to cut and merge than mpeg2.
I know that MMC 7.6 was not designed for the ATI RFP but it works none the less, just fine.
I would like to try and help. If you can provide a few more details, I will certainly give it a go. If you would prefer, go ahead and email me on the side. -
Thanks, but I *do* have MMC 7.7 working with mine. I'm just pissed off because 8.1 flat out refuses to install (as though it's literally probing the card to make sure it's on ATI's 'approved' list, versus merely confirming that there's a Rage Theatre chip sitting on the card currently plugged into the AGP slot...). If the only thing standing between me and 8.1 is a $30 late-night sniper bid on eBay for an original Radeon AIW, it's starting to look worthwhile.

The Breakout box for the AIW 8500DV is differant than the one used by the AIW Rage 128 Pro. I have both of this cards.
May the force be with you. -
Oops... scratch the 8500DV...
Oh well... I haven't quite given up hope on the original AIW Radeon or the AIW7500, both of which are sufficiently cheap on eBay at $30-40 and $70-80 respectively (for card-only, on the assumption that I could use my 128 pro's breakout box and output cable) to still consider if the cables end up being compatible...
