I think I finally have the issues fixed in DVDComplete regarding choppy video and audio sync.

The answer lies in the preparation of the video. My problems were apparently related to bad frames and inaccurate key frames.

I dl'ed the newest Virtualdub 1.51 and cleaned up the video. I had a video of the sopranos S1E7. It constantly came up in DVD Complete as incompatable DVD format and even if it did convert it was a mess.

    Here's what I did:

    1. Loaded video into Virtualdub 1.51. On the open file section I checked "Popup Extended open options". I checked "Rederive keyframe flags"

    2. Under Video Menu I chose "Scan Video Screen for errors" (I did this twice to be sure but I'm not sure if this was overkill or not)

    3. I saved the file as sopranos107fixed.avi and I then saved the wav file separately.

    4. Using TMPEG I used the wizard Choosing CBR MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio (MP2). I set advanced menu - "Full screen keep aspect ratio" I also chose separate audio and video files.

DVD Complete took the file with no problem at all.

    Sometimes I get lucky!

Yes DVDComplete is rather picky about what it takes.

I wish it would take 352x480 files.

I actually gave up on DVDComplete and bought a copy of SpruceUp on ebay. SpruceUp will take everything I've thrown at it, but it can't do the fancy menus and covers that DVDComplete does.

The folks that make DVDComplete indicated that they may make a pro version that would be more flexible, but after sinking a $100 on the "deluxe" version I don't want to spend a few hundred more on a so called "pro" version.
