I have a Canon ZR45MC Mini-DV camcorder and can easily capture taped MiniDV footage from the playing camcorder on my PC using the Firewire interface. I can connect a VCR to my Canon via RCA phono cables and send that video over the Firewire. The problem comes when I try to capture that video stream...both Showbiz and Pinnacle Studio 7 give me trouble when I try this. It worked once, but it hasn't worked since. Both programs have the camcorder control interface model: buttons that tell the camcorder to play, stop, FF, REW, etc. IMO they aren't designed for this operation.
Is there another program that will just capture the video/audio stream?
Thanks!
Doug

If it worked once, couldn't be problem in camcorder setup ? Did you change anything ? This is going to be my next "project". Passthrough !
Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home) -
Look at the Tools section and try Scenalyzer Live or DVIO. Scenalyzer has the camcorder controls but they can be shut off if you don't want them.

The only trial version available from Ulead is MF 2.0. So just download the one that you found under MF. You may want to try Ulead VS 7.0 which has the added capability of editing DV. They also have a trial version.
Another freeware for your passthrough feature is DVapp. -

You might want to try a simple capture program called amcap.exe. Do a Google search... it's freeware.
